How does the Earthquake Spell work?

The Earthquake Spell’s primary use is to weaken buildings and to destroy Walls. Four Earthquake Spells destroy any level of Walls, but you can never destroy a building with Earthquake Spells alone.

On buildings, the spell does damage up to a percentage that is dictated by the spell’s level. For example, at level 1, the Earthquake Spell does 14% damage to buildings, and at level 5 it does 29% damage to buildings. Because of this, the more hitpoints a building has, the more damage the spell will inflict to it. However, because the damage inflicted is a percentage of the hitpoints left on the building, it is impossible to destroy buildings with Earthquake Spells alone. The spell is, therefore, best used as a way to wither down defenses instead of destroying them.

Upgrading the spell increases the size of the area in which the spell inflicts damage (radius), damage percentage, and the brewing cost and time.
