Clan War Leagues Matchmaking - how does it work?

Clan War Leagues Matchmaking - how does it work?

When a Clan signs up for Clan War Leagues they are immediately taken into matchmaking. Matchmaking is skill-based, as Clans always fight 7 randomly selected Clans from their League tier.

As soon as matchmaking finds 7 other Clans in the same League tier, the Clans are matched to form a Group. Clans in a Group fight each other and the best performing Clans of each Group can be promoted to a higher League.

Longer matchmaking times in higher leagues

Clan War Leagues is a very challenging competition, and so there are less and less Clans in the leagues towards the top. This naturally results in longer matchmaking times, as there are less Clans there to match into groups.

While Clans wait to be matched, their entry time into the matchmaking pool is tracked. This is done to ensure that Clans who entered matchmaking first are the priority to be matched first.

Canceling the search and entering search again shouldn't be done, because this decreases a Clan's priority for being matched. This can be especially detrimental to a Clan's chances of being matched if done towards the end of the sign-up period.

The best way to accommodate for long matching times is to try to start the search as early as possible into the sign-up period.
